Erica's American Diner to return in new Cambridge location, owners announce
JACK LIZ. TYLER A BELOVED BREAKFAST STAPLE IN VERMONT’S FRANKLIN COUNTY, IS SHUTTING ITS DOORS AFTER A DECADE OF FEEDING ITS HUNGRY CUSTOMERS. MANY PEOPLE SAY THEY’RE JUST HEARTBROKEN TO HAVE TO SAY GOODBYE TO A PLACE THAT THEY’VE GROWN TO LOVE. NBC5’S ADRIAN PASTOR HAS THE STORY FROM FAIRFAX. AFTER NINE YEARS, ERICA’S AMERICAN DINER WILL BE CLOSING ITS DOORS THIS WEEK, AND FOLKS HERE IN FRANKLIN COUNTY HAVE BEEN COMING OUT IN THE DOZENS TO SAY GOODBYE TO THIS BELOVED STAPLE. WE WILL MISS IT BECAUSE IT’S VERY NEARBY, AND THEY HAVE VERY GOOD FOOD. AND WHEN MY FAMILY, THEY COME FROM EVERY DIRECTION, THIS IS WHERE WE MEET INSIDE ERICA’S AMERICAN DINER, YOU CAN HEAR THE SIZZLE OF THE STOVETOPS SMELL THE COFFEE AND HEAR THE BUZZING CONVERSATIONS FROM ONE TABLE TO ANOTHER. SINCE THEN, CUSTOMERS HAVE COME OUT TO PLACE THEIR ORDERS AND SAY GOODBYE ONE LAST TIME. OUR CHURCH GROUP, I GO TO CHURCH IN ESSEX CENTER. EVERY YEAR. THEY WOULD COME UP HERE BECAUSE I GENERALLY GO DOWN THERE AND NOW, AND THAT WAS NICE. I WANT TO THANK EVERYBODY THAT’S EATING HERE ONE TIME OR A THOUSAND TIMES. IT’S BEEN IMPORTANT TO US. IT’S BEEN GREAT FOR US. AND YOU KNOW, THANK YOU. AND WHILE IT IS BITTERSWEET, OWNERS AT ERICA’S AMERICAN DINER SAY THAT THEY HAVE BEEN PROUD TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY FOR AS LONG AS THEY HAVE AND ARE CONTINUING TO DO SO AT THEIR THREE OTHER DELI LOCATIONS IN CAMBRIDGE AND
