Did you know that lightning is one of the deadliest weather systems? Records from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) show that lightning has killed more people in the U.S. than any other weather-related factor. National Lightning Safety Awareness Week, an initiative by the National Weather Service, aims to enhance lightning safety awareness. When thunder roars, go indoors! #wreccoop

This morning, WREC hosted the groundbreaking ceremony for Pasco County Housing Authority's first Veterans Housing Project at Magnolia Oaks. Congressman Gus Bilirakis, the Housing Authority, and others attended to support our veterans. Magnolia Oaks will feature 77 townhouse units for low-income veterans and their families, located within four miles of a new veterans' medical center. This project aims to help Pasco County achieve functional zero for homeless veterans. WREC is honored to play a part in providing housing for our veterans and being able to host this incredible groundbreaking ceremony. #wreccoop

Teachers from various Pasco County high schools visited WREC’s One Pasco office today to learn about our job opportunities and employee expectations. One Pasco’s District Manager, Line Superintendent, Engineering Supervisor, and Member Service Supervisor gave a departmental tour, sharing tools and resources for the teachers to pass on to their students. We highlighted the importance of soft skills, communication, and the approach we value at WREC. The teachers appreciated the chance to learn about our departments, job opportunities, and benefits, and are now inspired to inform their students about our cooperative.
